Collegiate Programs
Whether you are a GBR alum home on break or a local college student eager to get on the water, we have program options for you! Check out the listed offerings on the Programs Menu and see how you can join us on the water.
Great Bay Rowing has a long history of collaboration with the University of New Hampshire Men’s & Women’s Rowing Team, including sharing boathouse locations in both Dover and Durham. Athletes from the UNH team who stay in New Hampshire over the summer are encouraged to continue their training independently with our Collegiate Summer programs.

Collegiate Logbook Sculling is for athletes who have graduated high school and are 18+, and who have passed a Captain’s Test becoming certified to take out Great Bay owned shells. This is a great way to train independently, or simply get out and enjoy the river.
Unlike our regular logbook sculling program, the collegiate logbook sculling membership is offered for the Summer season only. Check Out Regatta Central for pricing and to register. Please note, this is NOT a coached program, and athletes must already be proficient scullers.
Shells are available on a first come, first served basis based on availablity. Coached competitive programs have equipment priority, so please be familiar with the summer rowing calendar.
The collegiate logbook membership fee includes a seasonal membership to Great Bay Rowing, and also includes a required membership to “I ROW NOW” for boat reservations and availability. Please contact GBR rowing director, to schedule a Captain’s Test
Collegiate High Performance Sculling
Athletes who are interested in this program should contact the Coach or Rowing Director to discuss if this is the right fit for them.
This program is designed specifically for highly motivated collegiate athletes who have the sculling proficiency and proven speed to train for competition at the international level. Athletes will train in both coached and independent sessions, with priority access to top club equipment throughout the summer. Athletes should plan on racing at both the USRowing Summer National Championship and the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.
Athletes should possess significant comfort and skill in the single, as much of the summer’s training will be in small boats. Female athletes should have a 2k of 7:30 or faster, male athletes should have a 2k of 6:30 or faster. Coaches are willing to consult with athletes who do not yet meet the erg criteria, to determine if other factors make the athlete a suitable candidate for this program.
Athletes will be expected to commit 100% to 10 on the water workouts per week, with 2-3 additional dry land workouts and video review sessions. Practices will be a mix of coached and independent sessions, but the group will train together regardless.
Athletes will be responsible for all travel, accommodations, and fees for regattas. Entries will be done by the coach. Atheltes should have a valid passport.
